China Imposes Export Ban on 28 U.S. Companies!

China has imposed an export ban on military and civilian “dual-use products” to 28 U.S. defense companies. According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Commerce, the ban was imposed to “protect national security and fulfill international obligations to prevent the proliferation of weapons.” The ministry announced that Chinese companies are prohibited from exporting to these companies.
The ministry also revealed that 10 U.S. companies were added to the “unreliable entity” list due to their arms sales to Taiwan, with which China has a sovereignty dispute.
The export ban applies to defense companies such as General Dynamics, Boeing Defence, Space & Security, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon Missiles & Defence, while Lockheed Martin has 5, General Dynamics has 3, and Raytheon has 1 company, as well as 1 joint venture between General Dynamics and Raytheon, added to the “unreliable entity” list.
While Chinese companies are restricted from selling “dual-use products” to the first group of 28 companies, any form of trade between Chinese companies and the 10 companies in the second group is prohibited, as well as their investments in China and the entry and exit of their executives to and from China.
The Beijing administration had previously announced on December 24 that it would impose sanctions on 13 U.S. defense companies and 6 executives for facilitating arms sales to Taiwan.
